When Lüneburg Wakes Up – Spring Market 2026

Lüneburg at night

Spring in Lüneburg – When the City Comes Alive

This year, from April 30 to May 4, the Hanseatic city transforms into a sea of colors, scents, and sounds. Along nearly 800 meters, some 60 exhibitors line up, turning the traditional fair into a true carnival paradise. Whether classic bumper cars, a dazzling children’s carousel, freshly baked crêpes, or hand-spun candy—there’s something for everyone here.
When darkness falls, the sea of lights from the market reflects in the rivers surrounding the Old Town, and from afar comes the familiar clatter of cans from the can-tossing booth. A piece of childhood—right in the heart of modern-day Lüneburg.

Colorful days, glowing nights

From Thursday to Monday, the fairground operators offer a varied program for young and old. The Lünepost Happy Hour on Thursday is particularly popular: Between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., tokens are half price at all rides—and the best part: They remain valid all week long. This makes it easy to enjoy the fair with complete flexibility. The absolute highlight and finale of the weekend: the grand fireworks display on Friday evening at 9:45 p.m. When the rockets rise above the city and the sky glows with vibrant colors, Lüneburg stands still—and smiles.

Quiet nights, wide horizons – Bockelkathen

After all that hustle and bustle, just 15 minutes away lies the complete opposite: the Noordwind HofGut Apartments Bockelkathen. An old, lovingly restored square farmstead nestled between fields and hedges, surrounded by silence and open space. Birdsong in the morning, candlelight in the evening—and the relaxing thought that you’ve done everything right. From
here, city life is just as easily accessible as a stroll through the early heath blossoms or a day in the spa gardens. And for those who’d rather see stars than neon lights after the fireworks: that’s exactly what our apartments are for.

Your Nordic Spring

This is North German May at its best—urban life, rural tranquility, and everything in between.
A weekend in Lüneburg offers both: the vibrant city atmosphere at the spring market—and the soothing pace of the countryside.

Tip: Spend the day at the Sülzwiesen and the evening at HofGut Bockelkathen.
First a sea of lights—then a starry sky. Escape
the everyday.
