If you have ever visited one of our destinations, there is a good chance that we have already met. I am the founder and managing director of noordwind. And whenever time allows, I am also a handyman, caretaker and contact person on site.
Sustainable and minimalist living has long been the central theme of my professional life. At some point, I asked myself: shouldn't what is normal at home also apply on holiday?
Every year, thousands of people now spend their holidays with us on the Little Belt and in the Elbe valley: on a 19th-century farmstead we renovated with its original materials, and on a campsite heated with wood pellets. I am very proud of this – and you can be too.

Who's Behind noordwind
noordwind is a brand with two operating companies. noordwind camping galsklint in Middelfart is operated by noordwind camping galsklint ApS. HofGut Bockelkathen in Lüdersburg is operated by noordwind Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, headquartered in Bendestorf. noordwind was founded and is managed by Simon Kilimann.

Sustainability in Practice
- Galsklint: a wood pellet boiler heats the Komforthytte huts, sanitary buildings, kitchen and reception and provides hot water; pellets are delivered loose, without plastic bags
- Electricity in Galsklint is billed based on actual consumption, which encourages energy-saving behavior
- During the renovation of the HofGut, half-timbering, clinker bricks, and solid wood floorboards were restored and reused
- Head office in Bendestorf: 12 kWp solar PV system, the electricity is used on site
The team at Galsklint
A campsite is only as good as the people who keep it running every single day. The permanent crew on the Lillebælt is Emil, Thea and Eik. Without them, the lights wouldn’t come on and nothing would shine. Then there’s Lilen, who makes sure the world hears about it. But many more people lend a hand. More on that at the bottom.
I run the day-to-day operations at noordwind camping galsklint. Got a question about your pitch, looking for a cabin, or want to know where the sun sets most beautifully over the Lillebælt tonight? Ask me.
My job is to make sure everything on the site simply works: power, water, paths, washrooms and everything in between. So you don’t have to think about anything but your holiday.
And since somebody has to run reception: that’s me too. Bookings, questions, special requests and the eternal question about the Wi-Fi password all land with me. By phone between 8 am and 5 pm and, when I’m not off rescuing a tap somewhere on the site, in person at reception.

Emil
Thea & Eik – Department of Sparkle and Shine
Thea and Eik probably hold the most important title on the whole Lillebælt, and they take it more seriously than any board. Wherever these two have been, the showers gleam as if they had just won a design award. The cabins smell of fresh sea air, and in the morning the shared kitchen looks as if nobody has ever made pancakes there.
Rumour has it that more than one guest has admired themselves in the washroom mirror a little longer than planned. The two are usually at work before the site wakes up and gone again before you notice they were there. A bit like elves, just with better timing and a view of the Lillebælt.
If something at Galsklint looks especially clean: that was Thea and Eik. A quick “thank you” in passing makes them happier than any tip.
Lilen – Keeper of the digital campfire
Ever seen a sunset over the Lillebælt on Instagram and suddenly needed a holiday right away? That was Lilen. She is Emil’s wife, our voice online and in charge of our noordwind channel.
Lilen has a talent the rest of us lack: she has her phone in hand exactly when the light is perfect, while the rest of us are still debating whether it actually looks nice right now. Even the fallow deer in Hindsgavl Dyrehave now seem to know when to step into the frame.
She is behind every post, every story and every “Where is this?” in the comments. Please follow her, well, us. She’s happy about every heart, Emil about every other one.
And then there are … all the others
Honestly: with just three people, this wouldn’t work. Behind Emil, Thea and Eik is a team that doesn’t appear on any rota and is still always on the go.
There are our colleagues from NAWALO, who otherwise build tiny houses and timber modules. They drop by Galsklint regularly, with a cordless drill, a folding rule and the firm intention of “just taking a quick look at something”. Afterwards there’s usually a new bench, a shelf finally hangs straight, or the shed is so tidy you hardly recognise it.
There are our seasonal campers: they know where the key to the tool shed hangs before we do, know every pitch by its first name and have guided many a caravan into place backwards before anyone from the team had their jacket on. New guests get the best sunset tips from them, free, unprompted and usually with a cup of coffee.
And there are family, friends and neighbours, who trim hedges at the start of the season, bake cakes for the flea market or are simply there when two extra hands are needed. Officially we’re a small team. Unofficially this is a whole village on the Lillebælt, and for that we say: tusind tak.
