Sustainability is not a question of ideology or attitude. For us, sustainability is a question of common sense. Because ultimately, it means only one thing: think about tomorrow today and take only as much as you really need.

What is right at home must also apply on vacation. That is why we try to make these principles the basis of everything we do. Of course, this is not always easy—sometimes it is even impossible. But we are convinced that if we try to do it always and everywhere, it will work often enough to make a big difference in the end. Even if the individual measures seem very small and insignificant at first.

We all have a role to play in many aspects of climate protection. But as an operator of vacation accommodations and campsites, noordwind has a special responsibility—because our actions largely determine whether your vacation can be sustainable at all. That's why we have identified three key issues that lay the foundation for a sustainable vacation.

Many logistical processes must take place before you arrive at our accommodation or pitch your tent at our campsite. Of course, greenhouse gas emissions cannot be completely avoided—but they can be effectively minimized. Through carpooling, the use of cargo bikes, and forward planning, for example. This is how we lay the foundation for your vacation to be sustainable.

Plastic is practical and cheap—but in many cases it can easily be replaced by other raw materials. We try to avoid plastic waste wherever possible. When plastic products are used, we prefer reusable ones made from recyclable plastic. After all, the waste problem on our planet is already big enough. Let's work together to ensure that it doesn't get any bigger.

Even though we use it sparingly, operating campsites and vacation accommodations consumes a lot of electricity. That's why it's our responsibility to ensure that the energy we consume comes from renewable sources, both from our own PV systems and from our suppliers. So you don't have to worry about the carbon footprint of every single kilowatt hour.
