New Year's Eve with Your Dog: Ring in the New Year Firecracker-Free at Noordwind

Why no fireworks? Because peace and quiet is the best gift
Dogs have much more sensitive hearing than we do. For many dogs, loud bangs mean pure stress: trembling, panting, hiding. We keep things quiet so your dog can relax through the night. Everyone else benefits too—little kids who sleep peacefully, and everyone who’d rather say goodbye to the old year quietly.
New Year’s Eve at Lillebælt: Galsklint Strand Camping
Imagine a clear, frosty winter day on the Danish coast: a long morning walk with your dog on a deserted beach, a midday stroll through the quiet Hindsgavl Dyrehave, and a warm, cozy evening in your heated comfort cabin. That’s what a peaceful New Year’s Eve by the sea feels like.
For those traveling with a dog, we offer heated cabins with private bathrooms—cozy for the whole family. The campground is fireworks-free, so your dog has a safe place to retreat. This is especially ideal for families with young children: no startling loud noises right next door, but plenty of space to run around on the winter beach and a warm evening by candlelight.
New Year’s Eve in the Elbe Valley: HofGut Bockelkathen
In the Elbe Valley, the turn of the year is particularly quiet. Our vacation apartments under the historic thatched roofs are open year-round, and some are wheelchair-accessible and on the ground floor. And most importantly for your dog: Fireworks and firecrackers are strictly prohibited here—because of the thatched roofs, and especially on New Year’s Eve. While fireworks go off elsewhere, it stays quiet here.
During the day, wide, frosty paths through the Elbe River floodplains and the Lüneburg Heath beckon. In the evening, a warm drink, the glowing window, your dog content in his basket—and you can let the year come to a peaceful close. A fireworks-free New Year’s Eve that could hardly be more relaxing.
How to Make Your New Year’s Eve with Your Dog Relaxing
A few simple things will help your dog get through the evening:
- Go for one last long walk before dark—a tired dog is a calm dog.
- Set up a cozy spot for him indoors with a familiar blanket.
- Stay calm yourself—your dog takes its cues from your calmness.
- Watch out for road salt during your walk and check their paws afterward.
- Make sure your dog wears a collar with your address in case there’s a distant firework.
