Bonfire over the Lillebælt

On Tuesday, June 23, the longest day of the year, we invite you to join us on our beach in the evening. What makes our event special: The midsummer bonfire is lit outdoors on a platform in the Lillebælt. As the flames blaze over the water and reflect in the strait, you’ll sit on the shore with something warm to eat and a cool drink in hand, letting the evening wash over you. Live music will be playing—relaxing sounds that carry the evening as the sun slowly sinks lower. If you’d like, you can sing along to the old midsummer song.

An evening for everyone

That’s exactly what makes St. Hans in Denmark so special: not a loud spectacle, but fire, water, and the bright northern sky over the Lillebælt. For families, it’s an evening the children won’t soon forget—the fire over the water, the music, the long hours of daylight. And for older folks, it’s a quiet, atmospheric moment by the sea where you can simply sit and watch. No one is in a hurry to go to bed.

More Midsummer in Middelfart

If you’re still in the mood for more afterward: In Teglgårdsparken in Middelfart, the city traditionally hosts its big St. Hans Festival by the water. The park opens at 7:30 p.m. with music and food stalls, followed by speeches and bonfires at 9:00 p.m., and to cap it all, fireworks light up the sky over Fænøsund. It’s just a twenty-minute bike ride there. Both in one evening? It works perfectly—first a quiet start with us on the beach, then the sparkle of the city.
